There are major reasons why models are the center of attention …
Runway models, in particular, enjoy taking advantage of their time in the spotlight for the sake of being adored, embraced, and loved by many. It’s honorable for us to feel appreciated for having the courage to dominate a stage, I mean we love it! It feels amazing to bask in the glory of our beauty and ferocity, but it’s not always easy and not every model is meant to be on the runway.
Besides, that’s only one side of the bigger picture here! Having confidence is the tool that every model must work with, but there are goals for each model to achieve in the process.
It’s important that aspiring models measure the outcomes of what they wish to accomplish when building this lifestyle. Please know that it is 100% OKAY to not have a “Top Model” status; it is physically and mentally draining trying to do it all, and without having credibility in at least ONE successful area, you will become overworked and unfulfilled.
Here’s the thing: runway models are performers. Yes, I am comparing runway modeling to choreographed dancing because it takes practice to develop your form and maintain your rhythm throughout your entire stage presence. There’s no time for nervousness once you hit that stage, and the minute you get off beat, stumble or lose your face, that is what the crowd will remember most about your performance. So, practice with a purpose.
I want you to understand that when a model gets hired for a gig, or casted out of a number of correspondents, the company based their selection of that model for 2 reasons:
- The model represents the company’s target audience. For example, a skincare company, like Cota Skin Care, would reach out to a model who is prone to acne in order to measure their product’s results on a live test subject.
- The model demonstrates the purpose of why the product exist. Cota Skin Care uses the pain point to address how breakouts and blemishes make people unhappy. Incorporating the selected model to display before and after photos of the results in 14 days advocates that their products will give their target market the same outcome and they, too, can look better and feel better, faster.
See, a company has already contemplated on their objectives before needing visual representation to fulfill their intentions. In other words, they already know what type of model they’re looking for and how they want to use them. It’s up to the models to place themselves in position to get picked for the campaign. Like any sport, modeling requires endurance training in your niche to get you ready for the assignments to come. Our duty is to communicate the work of others; thus, this is a team effort – like a relay race! The model is the anchor and it’s our job to get the team to victory, which is ultimately getting the company more sales!
I actually love to know that marketing cannot prevail without models, but again I have to stress why it is necessary for each model to choose a division that suits their character.
Stay tuned for my next update on choosing your niche!
